Well ya’ll, Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re still looking for the perfect gift for the mom in your life, I’ve got you covered! Whether your mom is the practical and minimal type, sentimental, chic and fashionable, into nature and the outdoors, or appreciates acts of service, you will find something here for every kind of mom.
Is the mom in your life on the practical and minimal side? Does she enjoy receiving something she can put to use as opposed to something that will just sit around collecting dust? If that’s the case, then these inexpensive ideas are sure to delight your mom! First, something I’ve gifted in the past for wedding gifts, bridal showers, and housewarmings is a pair of personalized casserole dishes. Even if you’re not crafty, this is something that with just a few supplies and a little time, you’re able to DIY the perfect gift. But if you’re not interested in DIY’ing your own, you can find these on etsy as well. Everyone probably already has a casserole dish, but few people have a personalized set and it’s something everyone – especially folks that attend or have potlucks – can use! All you’ll need is a glass casserole dish – I like the sets that come with lids. You can find this at most any retailer like Walmart, Target or Amazon, or if you’re feeling thrifty, I see them at second-hand stores all the time! To personalize, you’ll need a bottle of Armor Etch and a pack of reusable, adhesive stencils (the adhesive kind are great because this prevents the stencil from moving around as you’re applying the Armor Etch). When you’re done and have rinsed the etching solution off, you’re left with a beautiful, personalized product! If your mom is a lover of casseroles and/or gatherings and taking meals, this gift idea is perfect!
If the mom in your life is sentimental, she likely wants something that shows you care and has your stamp on it. Do you have to be an amazing DIY-er to pull a sentimental gift off? No way! A great sentimental gift idea is a simple photo frame that will hold two photos (or two separate frames if you can’t find one that holds two photos), and place a photo of you and your mom in the past with another photo that’s more recent. And better yet, you can ALWAYS find picture frames at thrift stores often for under $5.
Maybe the mom in your life is more chic and fashionable. If so, birthstone jewelry is so classic and simple while also meaningful. You can find birthstone jewelry most places that sell jewelry such as jewelers but also at Walmart and online at Amazon or Etsy.
If the mom in your life is into gardening and nature, maybe she would appreciate a simple, DIY set of plant markers. There are tutorials all over Pinterest and youtube, and the supplies needed are super minimal and inexpensive. With little time, you can customize a set of garden markers, like these, for the outdoors-loving mom in your life. You’ll just need some oven baked clay to get started!
Finally, there are some moms out there who just enjoy a simple act of service. I feel like this is the most underrated, but obvious gift out there. To find the perfect act of service to gift your mom, visit her and get her talking about her least favorite chores or something that has really been bothering her but that she has not had the time to tend (in my case, this would be what a disaster my car has become!) Take this information and either gift her, in my case maybe you offer to clean the car or give her a gift certificate to take it and have it done. Maybe she’s super behind on laundry or other housework. Offer to tackle her housework for her for the week or once a week or whatever suits you and would help her out. This one has so much room to get creative. The sky is the limit and whatever you do, it will most certainly be appreciated!
