While working on our master bedroom makeover, I was inspired by this trash treasure pair of wicker chairs I saw on the side of the road for a cottagecore-country front porch makeover. Luckily, I was driving my husband’s truck when I saw them on the curb. I quickly pulled onto the next road to turn around, and who did I get behind? The trash truck! Of course they were stopping at this house, too. I took a chance and hollered out the window “can I have those?” The guy was so nice he even brought them over and put them on the truck for me. While they’re not in perfect condition, I’m super tickled with them! The next day, I visited my favorite thrift store and stumbled onto this sweet little wicker ottoman / coffee table! It’s going to tie my space together perfectly!
Having too much clutter on our front porch I decided to get busy while the weather cooperated. I started by borrowing a pressure washer and pressure-washing the front of the house and front porch – a task that was long overdue! Next, I went shopping. I bought 3 cans of spray paint in the color Granite in a satin finish (I need one more to finish!), 4 cans of white spray paint, 2 cushions, 1 yard of fabric, and a plant stand and planter all from my local Walmart. Finally, I listed our old patio set on Facebook marketplace, and luckily it sold the next day for full asking. Finally, I set out to begin my cottagecore-country transformation.
Once I was finished pressure washing and gathered all of my supplies, I got to work. I took shutters off and laid flat (who needs saw horses when you have stumps in the yard?!) and used the satin Granite spray paint our shutters. Next I sprayed the chairs and ottoman all white to freshen up the paint on the chairs and change the ottoman from brown to white to tie everything together. Finally, I used the fabric to recover the existing taupe fabric on the ottoman. Once everything dried, I added the cushions and moved everything back into place.
My porch has never felt welcoming to me or been a place where I just wanted to hang out. And after finding these sweet, free wicker chairs on the curb headed to the landfill, I was completely inspired to transform my space from dingy, dirty and barely functioning to a cozy, cottagecore-country hangout!
