Quick and Easy DIY Teacher Gift

Oh no! It’s the week before Christmas and you let time get away from you. What about the teachers?

No worries, mama. With this quick and easy DIY, you’ll be able to preserve the precious memory of this schoolyear’s class and show appreciation for the teachers in your life.

Admittedly, this is a super simple DIY, but if you have more than two kids or your kids have more than two teachers, this may not be the DIY for you. Just cautioning…

First, I snagged a photo from the class field trip of the teachers with the class and printed 3 copies (one for each of my kiddo’s teachers). While out to pick up photos, I stopped at Dollar Tree and picked up three wood blocks, two packs of beads, and some jute twine. Once home I used some Waverly antiquiqing wax I had on hand to stain the wood blocks on all sides. (If you don’t have antiquiqing wax, you could also use paint of your choosing or simply leave the wood natural and unfinished. Once this was dry (this took 3 coats), I then used Mod Podge I had on hand to apply the photo to a wood block and then applied a top coat of Mod Podge to seal it. After the Mod Podge dried, I drilled a hole into the top center of each block to thread the twine through for a hanger. I used the beads to dress up the twine and arranged three on each hanger in a white, wood, white pattern. Lastly, I Googled “teacher” quotes, chose one that I liked and first in pencil, wrote the quote onto the back on the block. Then, I traced over the pencil with a Sharpie paint pen.

Ta-da! How sweet did these turn out?

For a little personalization, I also added each teacher’s favorite candy to the bag with the photo ornament. Alternatively, you could include a gift card for coffee, a travel coffee cup, or small candle. These came together in just one evening, and I feel like were the perfect way to show our teachers we appreciate them and preserve a precious memory from the 2023-2024 school year for them.

What do you think? Do you do teacher gifts? What teacher gifts do you plan to do, if so?
